Obituary: WILLIAM LEONARD CRAIG
























































William “Leonard” Craig, 79, died Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C.

Leonard was born in Forsyth County, N.C. to the late Harvey McClure Craig and Elizabeth Self Craig.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who honorably served his country in Vietnam and was recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, the Purple Heart, among other commendations.

He was retired general manager of SeaHawk Motor Lodge, Atlantic Beach, N.C. In Leonard’s younger years, his favorite pastime was riding his motorcycle. Leonard continued to be active in spite of health issues. He loved walking in the sunshine and spending time with his family. He was very proud of his son, grandson and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Mack Craig and Maggy Craig Maxey; daughter-in-law Sandra Craig, and a niece Vicky Coppersmith.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Rebecca Jo Snyder Craig; son William Harvey Craig (Kim); grandson William Michael Craig (LeeAnn); great-grandchildren Cooper Craig and Milly Craig; mother of his son, Hazel Martin Craig; numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Don Maxey, and close family friends Rhonda Cox and husband Greg.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkinson’s Foundation in memory of Leonard.

Colonial Funeral Home in Sandy Ridge is serving the family.
