Ms. Vanessa Ann Watkins departed this life on Tuesday afternoon, January 10, 2023.
As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, she attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School, Class of 1972. At a tender age, she accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Bethel A.M.E. Church and later became a member of Grooms Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she regularly participated in Bible Study. Vanessa was a former employee of the Zarn Corporation. During her leisure, she enjoyed watching horror movies and socializing.
Her parents, Jo Edna Hairston Watkins and Riley Watkins, Sr., preceded her in death.
Survivors are: loving daughter, Chanell Wilson; grandchildren, Tarence Wilson, Tron Blackwell, Tashawn Wilson and Shamarkia Wilson; great-grandchildren, Sky Wilson and King Brewer; sisters, Pamela Watkins and Edna Cooper; brother, Riley Watkins, Jr. (Irene); bestie/sister, Min. Barbara Lennon (Israel); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from the Grooms Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2166 Grooms Road with Pastor Marland Wiggins presiding.
