Obituary: MARCELL JACQUELINE SLADE CRAWFORD
























































Mrs. Marcell Jacqueline Slade Crawford departed this life on Monday evening, October 9, 2023.

As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, she attended the local public schools and was a former employee of Spray Cotten Mills. Prior to the onset of infirmities, she was an active member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she served with the Board of Ushers and Culinary Committee.

One of her famous quotes was “No matter what, always trust God”.

During her leisure, she enjoyed fishing, mastering puzzles and playing a good game of spades.

Her parents, Lizzie Mae Rice Slade and James Arthur Slade; beloved husband, Robert Crawford; daughter, Janice Slade Scales; son, Sgt. Brodie Slade; granddaughter, Rhonda Slade; grandson, Cameron Stubblefield; sister, Edith Slade Hazel; brothers, James Slade, Jr. and James “Buster” Slade, III; Survivors are: a loving daughter, Tiki Slade Floyd (Bryan); grandchildren, Tyrika, Anthony (Lisa) and Victor Slade, all of Reidsville, Tyler Jones (Rachel), Bryson Floyd, both of Kannapolis, Amber, Bryson and Brodrick Slade, all of Cummings, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Tyria, Tyheim, Khloe, Tristen, Ryland, Omoni, Omari, Vichayiah, Caden, Ella, Jalon, Amaure, Aubree and Anaya; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Billie Jean Mc Cain and Peggy Slade; brother, Larry Slade; nieces, Sula “Bena” Slade and Edith “Susie” Slade; nephews, Michael Mooney (Beverly) and Andre Neal; son-in-law, James “Bruh” Scales; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023 from the chapel of Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street with Min. Walter Johnson, Jr. presiding. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Special appreciation is extended to Amedisys Hospice of Burlington. Her remains are in the care of Johnson & Sons.
