Kenneth William Martin, 85, loving husband, father, and grandfather, left this earthly life Thursday, January 4, 2024, at home.
Kenneth was a life-long resident of Stokes County. He was born May 23, 1938, to the late Harry William Martin and Alma Joan Hennis Martin. He was a graduate of Sandy Ridge High School. Kenneth was a gas and car hauler for Woods Brothers Racing for many years and was a tobacco farmer. He was an avid golfer.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by Sadie Hennis, who was like a second mother; first wife Sharron Whitten Martin; son Timothy Michael Martin; two granddaughters Kathryn Margaret Martin, Megan Anne Priddy; and sister Virginia Orene Martin.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Dwanda Odell Martin; sons Dwayne Patrick Martin, Kenneth Glenn Martin (Pam Hill-Martin), James “Jimmy” William Martin, Jeffrey Dale Martin, Joey Lane Martin; daughter Jennifer Martin Blankenbaker;
11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and his many golfing friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel and other times at the residence. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2024, at the funeral home with interment following in the Martin Family Cemetery.
