James Gilmer Manuel, 82, of Stoneville, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, at his home.
A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Ray Funeral Home with Pastor Hassell Priddy officiating. Burial will follow at Glenn’s Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
James was born in Rockingham County on May 30, 1941, to the late James and Elsie Mabe Manuel. He was a hard worker and farmed all of his life. James was a family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved golfing, gardening, racing and his two dogs, Jack and Jill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilmuth Christine Vernon Manuel.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Tim Manuel of Stoneville, Tammy Manuel of Madison, Kimberly Joyce (Brad) of Madison, and Kerry Manuel of Stoneville; his sisters, Betty Purgason of Stoneville, Wanda Payne (Freddy) of Penn Hook, VA, and Audrey Wilson of Stoneville; his brother, Jerry Manuel (Kim) of Stoneville; five grandchildren, Luke, Shane, and Terrance Manuel, and Bryan and Cole Joyce; and five great grandchildren.
