Dorothy “Dot” Evelyn Eason Whitfield, devoted mother and grandmother, went home to be with Jesus on March 12, 2023.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, March 17th, at Ellisboro Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 6 – 8 PM, at Colonial Funeral Home & Chapel and other times at the residence.
Dorothy was born November 25, 1924 in Linden, NC. She loved volunteering at the Senior Center and loved going to church where she sang in the choir. Dorothy enjoyed working crossword puzzles and being with family.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Walter L. Whitfield; her parents, Harvey Everton Eason and Nancy West Eason; brothers, Albert Eason, Allen Eason, Burt Eason and Fred Eason and six sisters, Irene Capps, Isabel Lamb, Anne Scruggs, Esther Harrelson, Stella Eason and Ruth Bunce. Dorothy was the youngest of 11 children.
She is survived by her son, Dennis L Whitfield (Shearin) of Greensboro, NC; two daughters, Cynthia W. Lively (Steve) and Deborah W. Miller (Jeff), both of Madison; special niece, Linda Watkins (Morry) who was like a daughter, of Leland, NC; five grandchildren, Melisa L. Shelton (Jody), Kristal L. Fletcher (Dale), Celeste N. Tarner (Jason), Krista W. Parham (Michael) and Joshua Whitfield; seven great-grandchildren, Justin Fletcher, Dillon Shelton, Trevor Shelton, Kortnie Fletcher, Ava Tarner, Klaus Parham and Lincoln Parham; sister-in-law, Barbara Eason; wonderful nieces, Judy Lance, Zylphia Culbreth and many other nieces and nephews that she loved.
Thank you for keeping me company for so long Mom. You will be FOREVER loved and missed.
