Obituary: DALLAS CURVIE HAWKINS
























































Dallas Curvie Hawkins, 69, left this earthly life Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Jacob’s Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Dallas was born on June 29, 1954, in Rockingham County. He was retired from National Textiles, in the shipping department with 15 years of service. Dallas was a kind, humble man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed working in the garden and had a great ability to make things grow. He loved operating all types of farm equipment. He enjoyed racing and would spend nights or weekends at the local dirt tracks or attending Nascar racing with his friends. He also had a passion for watching any new construction. Dallas was fascinated watching the equipment. He loved beach music, dancing and going to the beach. Dallas loved spending time with family over home cooked meals. His favorite dessert was his Mom’s chocolate pie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curvie Edward Hawkins; a sister, Donna Faye Hawkins, and step-father, John Martin Dilts.

Survivors include his mother, Polly Hawkins Dilts of Sandy Ridge; brother, Darrell G. Hawkins, of Winston Salem; sister, Kimberly Hawkins Elliott (Eric), of Durham; niece, Katelyn Elliott and nephew, Kyle Elliott; and a special friend, Evelyn Wimbish.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, May 13, 2024 at Delta Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. All other times the family will receive friends at the home of Polly Dilts at 1568 Kallam Road, Sandy Ridge.
