Christine Chaney Via, 68, passed away Monday afternoon, February 19, 2024, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
Christine was born May 5, 1955 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Albert and Ruby Chaney. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds, trying out new recipes, fishing at Jim Booth’s pond, going to yard sales and eating at Golden Dragon. Most of all, Christine adored her family and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Via, with whom she would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 3rd; her three children, Chandra Brim (David), Steven Via (Donna) and Lori Via (Trina); grandchildren, Jasper Bullard (Addie), Cameron Van Staalduinen, Trinity Van Staalduinen, Danielle Via, Trey Via, Tatyanna McCullough, Drema Brown, Parson Via, Timothy Inman and Alyssa Inman; great-grandchildren, Elijah Bullard, Ashton Bullard and Gracelyn Priddy; sister, Betty Dunlap (Larry); along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine siblings, Carson Chaney, Gene Chaney, Barbara Dunlap, Steve Chaney, Franklin Chaney, Rilla Webb, Vera Tuggle, Carolyn Sizemore and Martha Manuel.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Colonial Funeral Home & Chapel in Madison will be serving the family.
