Charles Leroy Nelson, Sr., 79, of Madison, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, March 18, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home.
Charles was born in Stokes County on March 13, 1944, to the late Mauer and Geneva Bullins Nelson. He spent most of his life farming tobacco and enjoyed working on motors, especially his lawn mowers. He loved his grandkids and enjoyed watching racing and westerns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Joyce Nelson; four brothers and one sister.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Charles Nelson, Jr. (Misty) of Danbury; his step-son, Paul Goad of Charlotte; his sister, Verta Mae McBride; brothers, Calvin and Jimmy Nelson; six grandchildren, Courtnie Phillips (Chase), Justin Nelson (Megan), Kayla Nelson (James), Isabella Blevins (Conner), Alley Nelson, and Christian Nelson; and two great grandchildren, Kai Bullins and Esmae Windham.
