Obituary: CARRIE LEE LOWE
























































Carrie Lee Lowe was born August 3, 1946, to the late George Lowe and Ruth Agnes Lowe. She departed this life on November 9, 2023, at 1:15 am.

A 1:00 p.m. celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at New Light Refuge Temple Church with Elder Stevie Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Madison. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service beginning at 12:30 p.m. Public viewing for Carrie Lowe will be on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Ray Funeral Home, from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m.

Carrie was a 1965 graduate of Charles R. Drew High School. She earned her NC state license in cosmetology in 1990 and a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in 2010. She worked for the Washington Mills-Mayodan plant, Macfield Textiles-Mayodan plant, and retired from Unifi Manufacturing in 2000. Carrie was a member of the New Light Refuge Temple Way of the Cross Church for 49 years. Her hobbies included yard selling and she was an avid gardener.

Carrie is preceded in death by brothers Cletus (“Dan”) Lee Lowe and George Leonard Lowe (“Brother”).

She leaves to cherish her memory: One son, Mark Lowe of Madison, NC; Three brothers: James Franklin Lowe (“Nick”/”Shortie”) and wife Josephine of Eden, NC; Elder Carl W. Lowe (“Poochie”) and wife Tracy of Stokesdale, NC; Michael Ray Lowe (“Mike”) and wife Angela of Greensboro, NC; One sister, Thressa Ann (Lowe) King (“Tootie”) of Fredericksburg, Va; and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

At the age of 28, Carrie became the matriarch of the closeknit Lowe family in 1974 after the passing of
her mother. She became the head of the household of two younger brothers (Mike Lowe, 17 and Carl Lowe, 19) and a younger sister (Thressa King, 10).
