Carmen Brandel Shupe, 47, of Sandy Ridge, NC, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023.
Carmen was born September 15, 1976, in Wausaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Janet Buss and Charles Brandel. Carmen had several academic accomplishments, which included a BA is psychology from UNCG. She was very proud of her previous work history at Help Inc. She was passionate about being a victim’s advocate for women and children in Domestic Violence situations.
But those who loved her will remember her loving heart, joyous laugh, compassion, silliness, quirkiness and willingness to do whatever she could for the people she loved, even when she couldn’t do for herself. Carmen will be missed for the rest of our lives. She leaves a void that can never be filled.
In addition to her mother Jan Buss, Carmen was preceded in death by her fiancé Aaron Swisher, and fur babies Gizmo, Belle, Princess and Rosie.
She is survived by her brother Charles (Chucky) Brandel of Sandy Ridge, NC; sister Shana Durham of Reidsville NC; nieces and nephews, Caleb Durham, Laney Brandel, Kennedy Brandel, Logan Brandel, Abbie Durham, Jaxon Durham and Elaina Taylor. Carmen is also survived by the best group of friends anyone could ask for, Carla Wilson, Susan Brown, Mandy Martin, Wanda Clark, Gracie Shelton and Sara Jane Mabe, along with several cousins and her fur baby Rascal.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel to assist with funeral expenses.
