Obituary: CARL JONES HICKS
























































Carl Jones Hicks, 78, born September 7, 1945, in Stokes County, entered into eternal rest, Friday, May 31, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Carl retired from Lucent Technologies, Inc., as a computer operator. He was a US Army veteran, and a member of Friends Baptist Church. He was a family man who loved his wife, children, and had a special place in his heart for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was proud to be a tobacco farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Hicks and Nannie Venable Hicks; brother, Thomas Hicks; sister, Barbara Shelton; half-brother and half-sisters, Bill Hicks, Addie Larson and Ruth Bowlin; and sister-in-law, Lucille Hicks.

Survivors include his wife, Roxanne “Ann” Morton Hicks; children, Mickey Hicks (April), Tony Hicks (Becky), stepson, Shane Hicks (Kim); grandchildren, Austin Hicks (Brooke), Hannah Hicks (Brendon), Tori Husel (Daniel), Cole Hicks; step grandchildren, Lucas Hicks and Christian Hicks, and great-grandson, Brantley Hicks. Carl is also survived by a brother, Jim Hicks, and sisters, Nancy McHone (Bill) and Ruby Tolnay (Carl).

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 6 to 8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m, Monday, June 3, 2024, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Neal-Tuttle Family Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Neal-Tuttle Cemetery.
