Billie Consuella “Connie” Stanley Nance, born February 5, 1954, in Henry County, Virginia, entered eternal rest Saturday, January 4, 2025, at home.
Connie lived her early childhood years in the Figsboro community, Martinsville, Va. She worked with her family in tobacco and gardening. She was no stranger to hard work. Connie attended Drewry Mason High School, Ridgeway, VA. After marriage, she moved to Rockingham County, NC. In 1991, Connie and Gurney moved to Stokes County, Sandy Ridge, NC. Connie continued gardening, harvesting, preserving and canning while working full time in the textile industry. She was a past employee of Burlington Industries, Macfield, Inc. and Unifi, Inc. Connie was a member of Christian View Christian Church.
Her passion was Elvis Pressley and Alabama. She collected roosters, loved butterflies, sunflowers, and enjoyed ceramics, word search, and after declining health “Skip-Bo” was the game for her. Connie was quiet- natured, loving and friendly to all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Kyle Stanley, Sr. and Nellie Mae Morrison Stanley and four brothers, Jimmy Wayne Stanley, Charles Stanley, Wilbur Stanley, Jr., and Thomas Stanley.
Survivors include her husband of 54 year, Gurney Lee Nance; son, Kyle Walker “K.W.” Nance; brother, John David Stanley (Nancy), of Ridgeway, VA; three sisters, Geneva Brodie, of Figsboro, VA, Marie Vontur (Thomas), of Ridgeway, VA, and Jane Raymond (Paul), of Eden, NC; brother-in-law, Jimmy (Kathy) Nance, sisters-in-law, Sheila (Barry) Wilson, and Cheryl (Randy) Knight, all of Stoneville, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
