Anita Geneva Chapmon Dove November 23, 1937 – January 9, 2025
Anita went to meet her savior and to join her beloved husband in heaven on January 9th 2025. Anita was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina to William Oren Chapmon and Eva Tate. She lived in various cities in the state before settling down with her husband in Madison, NC. Her grandson had been her caregiver after her husband passed away and was by her side as she departed.
She is survived by her brother, William (Buddy) Chapmon (Pat), and sisters. Her twin, Amelia (Pete) Pate, Jennie Banfield, and Colleen Chrisman, several nieces and nephews, step-daughters Michelle Dove (Daniel Jackson) and Tasha Dove (Reid Pruitt) and beloved Grandson, Oliver Jackson. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Dove and 4 sisters.
Anita worked most of her life, either in tobacco fields in her youth or, as she matured, various special skills positions such as Bell South phone operator and Southern Life insurance coordinator.
When she retired, she and her husband traveled the US. They enjoyed visiting new places with old friends and traveled to several states to visit National Parks and other interesting sites. They spent time together at their property growing fruits and vegetables that they would share with family and friends.
Anita was a skilled candy maker and baker. Her chocolate treats were loved by many and remain legendary to some.
Anita was a recorded gospel singer. She had a beautiful singing voice and was a part of several choir and choral groups.
The family will receive guests prior to the funeral and other times at the home of her sister, Jennie Banfield, on Ashley Loop. A funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Citty Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation at 1:00 PM, funeral service starting at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
